Jaybo is working on LED spotlights, and some other things I can’t pronounce…
And I am getting ready to paper mache…
Flour… check
Liquid Starch… check
Glue… check
Bleach water… check
Huge trashbag filled with a bit less than a ton of newspaper wads… hoping to become a cauldron…. sorta check. ;)
I have seen cauldrons done with other types of forms, and have NOT seen it done like this… so that should have been my first red flag… but, like the idiot I am, I’m gonna give it a shot.
I will probably be telling you why this did NOT work later.
Back to the glue! Hope all is going well for you!

It'll work. If you use paper mache pulp or clay as opposed to strip mache, you may find it won't be able to hold the weight of it as much as you'd like. But, then again, the mass of newspaper might hold.
You could also reinforce the outside with wire (coat hangers even).
The only other thing I can think of that might be a problem: the weight of the cauldron itself. If it's going outside, you'll have to think about staking it down, and that might be best planned at this stage.
Keep us posted!
I am so jealous that you and your husband have a wonderful haunting relationship! The family that scares together stays together! Good luck on the cauldron, I'm taking notes on how you did yours so I can do one later on this year!
Oh, good point, Ghoul Friday... as to the staking part... as we all know, that is my weakness. Think I will plan it out now, indeed. I had also thought of the coat hangers too... not sure if I will use them or not.
Haha, Mr. Macabre... we HAVE to stay together... I don't want to THINK about having to split up the props in court! Haha :D
Good luck with the cauldron. If you're concerned about weight, you might be able to put some bricks in the bottom once it's in position.
i can't wait to see this cauldron!!
